Bark in the Park Steps
# 1: Fill out your registration form & mail with your $20 registration fee to Bark in the Park Headquarters, c/o Peoria Humane Society, 2600 N.E. Perry, Peoria, IL 61603. Or, you may register in person at PAWS, 2600 N.E. Perry. Please make checks payable to the Peoria Humane Society.
# 2: Raise Bark Pledges. You can create your own personalized fundraising page online to help you raise Bark Pledges! Or you can use the pledge form included inside this brochure. Ask your friends, family and co-workers to sponsor you and your dog by making a pledge to Bark in the Park. Besides helping the animals, you can earn some great prizes for your efforts.To get started, visit our website, www.peoriahs.org and set up your own fun pledge page now! See inside for more details, including prizes you can win!
You can also form a “Dog Pack” of co-workers to join you and walk as a company team at the Bark. See other side for details.
# 3: Pick up your Bark in the Park T-shirt, your dog’s bandanna & goodie bag on:
Wednesday, October 8, 2:00pm-7:00pm at Petco - 801 W. Lake Ave.
Saturday, October 11, 9:00am-Noon at PAWS - 2600 NE Perry
You can also register at t-shirt pick-up.
# 4: Check-in begins at 11:00am at Festival Park.
Please allow plenty of time to check in and turn in pledges.
# 5: Join in the fun! Lots of activities for people and dogs including exhibitors, raffles, games and refreshments.
# 6: The walk starts at 2:00pm Head out with your furry friend for a pleasant walk along the river front.
# 7: Have a complimentary photo taken of you and your dog at the park by professional photographers, Michael Miller of Northern Lights Photography and Jim Treber of Remember When Photography.
It’s Dog-Gone Good Fun!
THE GREAT AMERICAN MARVELOUS MUTT SHOW
Fido doesn’t have to be a purebred to take part in the Great American Marvelous Mutt Show. Mixed breed or purebred — all pooches are invited to show off their talents at a dog show celebrating marvelous mutts!
Does JoJo juggle? Can Roxie rumba? Do you and Pugsy look so much alike that people get you confused? Well, pull Doogie's best duds out of the closet and get your talented mutt ready to strut their stuff at the show.
Competition Categories Include:
- Best Trick
- Best Dressed Dog
- Most Wags per Minute
- Dog-Owner Look-Alike
- Most Mixed Mutt
The Mutt Show will be hosted by Rick Stephenson with 97.3 River Country and Lisa Miller from WMBD-TV!
NEW! Due to time constraints, entries in each category will be limited. Sign up your dog to compete in the Mutt Show from 11:00 - 11:50am at the Bark stage. Mutt Show sign-up ends at 11:50 or when categories are full.
Prizes Awarded in each Category.
Competition begins at 12:00pm!
For Safety’s Sake, Please:
- Use good judgement regarding the temperament of your pet so that this event will be enjoyable for everyone.
- Do not bring a dog whose behavior could be dangerous to others. Event officials reserve the right to refuse entry to aggressive animals.
- Walk the course with your dog only if both of you are conditioned for it.
- Only one dog per walker, please. Any participating dog must be at least 6 months old.
- All dogs must have current rabies vaccinations and wear rabies tags — I.D. tags are also recommended.
- All dogs must be on a 6 foot or shorter leash for the duration of the event. No retractable leashes.
- Please do not bring a female dog in heat.
- No cats or other pets please.
- No skateboards, bikes or roller blades please. Strollers and wagons are welcome.
- Be courteous and responsible — please scoop up after your pet. Pick-up bags will be available throughout the park.
Thanks to everyone who made Bark in the Park 2007 so successful!
With your help, we were able to raise over $51,000 for the animals.
