Do's & Don'ts of Responsible Pet Ownership

Do:

bulletVaccinate your pet against rabies and other common diseases.
bulletRegister your pet with P.A.W.S. and keep its collar and tag on at all times.
bulletSpay or neuter your pet to prevent unwanted births.
bulletMake your pet a member of the family and keep it indoors.
bulletFence in an area to keep your dog home and safe.
bulletUse your leash whenever your dog is off your property.
bulletClean up your yard daily.
bulletPick up after your dog if it leaves a 'calling-card' on public or private property.
bulletTeach your pet good manners and attend obedience training classes.

Don't

bulletDon't acquire a pet on the spur of the moment - be sure you have the time, money and willingness to provide daily care.
bulletDon't let your dog or cat run loose and never put your pet out alone if she's in heat.
bulletDon't let your dog bark at night or for any extended period of time.
bulletDon't let your pet leave its 'calling card' on the neighbor's lawn.
bulletDon't let your dog behave aggressively to your neighbor.
bulletDon't forget to provide ample food, water, and shelter for your pet.
bulletDon't be embarrassed to ask for help with your pet.
bulletRemember to give your pet lots of affection. Remember, they love you!
